United Way of West Central Minnesota - Week of Action!

The United Way of West Central Minnesota recently organized volunteers to assist, churches, non-profit organizations and elderly or disabled individuals, with indoor/outdoor clean-up projects, landscaping/gardening, painting, window washing, activities for seniors or children, bulk mailings, assembly of printed materials or taking inventory.  The "Week of Action" was August 22nd through August 26th, and included the communities of Atwater, Benson, Bird Island, Clara City, Litchfield, New London, Olivia, Renville, Spicer and Willmar.

Three groups of volunteers chose to help ProWorks. Bobcat employees removed a retaining wall and landscaped an area of ProWorks' property - Consumers' Cooperative Association of Litchfiel donated Grass seed, and straw bales, to hold the grass seed, were donated by a Bobcat employee.  Conway, Deuth & Schmeising employees stained a privacy fence and storage shed.  The Litchfield Rotary Club built two raised garden boxes - each box is 30" x 60" and stand 36" high; building materials were purchased with a donation from the Dassel and Litchfield Knights of Columbus (through their Tootsie Roll program).

United Way's "Week of Action" clearly demonstrates that there are a lot of good people in our communities, who wish to use their time and talents to help others, They simply need guidance and organiztion from an agency like the United Way.  ProWorks is so very appreciative of every volunteer, and the work of the United Way of West Central Minnesota.

Manannah Party... The always anticipated Mannah Party 2008 was held on April 10th.  A delicious luncheon was served by members of the Church Of Our Lady in Manannah; the meal was goulash, Jell-O, bread, cake and ice cream; Kenny Hubbel lead the meal prayer.  Following the meal, Dale Kalkbrenner, provided musical entertainment.  Thirty-six people attended from ProWorks.

ProWorks wishes to thank, Lucille Dillon, Doris Sullivan, Barb Kloster,

Mary Boyer, Joyce Henfling, Donna Caron, Tootie Rothstein, Pat Thielen, Brenda Thielen and Dale Kalkbrenner.

There were plenty of witches and goblins (and clowns and pirates) at ProWorks' Halloween Party 2006; this event was hosted by ProWorks Red Rooster Site in Dassel on October 30th; the party began with the music of Terry Shaw (Terry Tunes).  The Halloween Dance was followed by lunch; ProWorks staff prepared a delicious meal of beef stew, orange jello salad, coleslaw, dinner roll and Hawaiian punch.  In the afternoon, people enjoyed:  decorating Halloween bags and cookies, picture bingo, fish pond, searching for rubber rats in shredded paper, a Halloween pinãta and watching a movie (Pirates of the Caribbean).

ProWorks' Halloween Party 2007 was held on October 31st, and was once again hosted by ProWorks' Red Rooster Site in Dassel.  Ghouls and Goblins alike danced to the music of Terry Shaw.  Following the dance, everyone enjoyed a lunch of cheesy turkey on a bun, carrots, jello cup, pumpkin bars, cookies, brownies and punch.  After lunch, partygoers enjoyed grames & crafts - activities included:  bingo, pumpco, ringtoss, spooky walk, spider toss, buried treasure, cookie, treat bag & cauldron decorating.
