I became ProWorks' executive director in October of 1981. I grew up in Milaca, MN; attended St. Cloud State University - receiving degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Growing up I remember wanting to be many different things when I became an adult, but I don't remember working in the field of disabilities ever being one of my choices. In fact, I knew nothing about serving people with disabilities. My first job, following graduation, was at the Kimball Developmental Achievement Center; this program served 80 people with developmental disabilities. I became an instructor at the Kimball DAC in September of 1977, and worked in that program until 1981. I sort of stumbled into the field of disabilities twenty some years ago, but have never regretted doing so. It is an area of work that will never be "financially" rewarding, but the personal rewards are immense. I am very proud of what we have accomplished at ProWorks.
